Rainmaker Tech Class.

Teacher: Kevmaster

[3:14:32] Kevmaster: ya'll here?
[3:15:23] whymillywhy: back
[3:15:37] BE4Life182: sure
[3:16:00] BE4Life182: the rain maker
[3:16:05] Kevmaster: cool
[3:16:08] Kevmaster: Rainmaker it is
[3:16:15] Kevmaster: alright
[3:16:37] Kevmaster: milly...do you know how a pump works?
[3:16:46] whymillywhy: I got a general idea
[3:17:15] Kevmaster: you pump the marker...which gets the hammer to latch onto the bolt, compressing a spring
[3:17:24] whymillywhy: yeo
[3:17:25] Kevmaster: you pump forward, which chambers a ball...
[3:17:26] whymillywhy: yep
[3:17:40] whymillywhy: Yep
[3:17:43] Kevmaster: then pull the trigger which de-latches...causing the hammer to slam back into the valve...firing the gun
[3:17:54] Kevmaster: and do you know how autotriggering works?
[3:17:55] whymillywhy: I was right I think
[3:18:02] whymillywhy: not really.....
[3:18:04] Kevmaster: ok
[3:18:09] Kevmaster: if you hold the trigger back
[3:18:25] Kevmaster: and do those two pump actions, at the end of a pump stroke (on the pump back) the hammer will delatch and fire
[3:18:39] Kevmaster: so all you have to do is pump the marker to get it to fire, if you have the trigger held down all the time
[3:18:39] whymillywhy: Okie
[3:18:58] whymillywhy: That is how I broke a talon....
[3:19:07] Kevmaster: the reason im telling you this, is because that is what a rainmaker is, in essence
[3:19:14] whymillywhy: Yeah
[3:19:33] whymillywhy: That is why it is easy to make rainmakers pumps...rite?
[3:19:46] Kevmaster: a rainmaker is an autotriggering pump that when you pullthe RM trigger (through pnuematics and electronics) pumps the marker
[3:19:46] whymillywhy: *rainmakers into pumps
[3:20:05] whymillywhy: Yeah.
[3:20:11] BE4Life182: which is one reason it uses soo much gas
[3:20:16] BE4Life182: right
[3:20:25] Kevmaster: true
[3:20:31] Kevmaster: lets see if you can undestand this
[3:20:32] Kevmaster: http://www.beog.org/Rainmaker/ani_rain_cut_slow.gif
[3:20:47] BE4Life182: yup
[3:20:49] ***: Kevmaster has changed the topic to “BEOG Tech Classses. Today!”
[3:20:53] BE4Life182: i studies it 4 ever
[3:21:01] Kevmaster: so you understand it
[3:21:01] whymillywhy: The animation
[3:21:03] Kevmaster: yep
[3:21:05] whymillywhy: by hardwarz?
[3:21:06] BE4Life182: yes
[3:21:09] Kevmaster: yep
[3:21:20] BE4Life182: so the ram is the pump
[3:21:32] Kevmaster: hold on a sec...lets see if milly can get it
[3:21:34] BE4Life182: and it comes forward and hit a pin to release the bolt
[3:21:35] whymillywhy: I can't think rite now
[3:21:38] Kevmaster: ok
[3:21:48] Kevmaster: BE4L...slowly explain it
[3:21:53] Kevmaster: step by step
[3:21:55] whymillywhy: O gpt ot
[3:21:58] whymillywhy: *I got it
[3:22:08] Kevmaster: lets go through it
[3:22:25] BE4Life182: ok
[3:22:32] Kevmaster: first
[3:22:34] BE4Life182: u want me to
[3:22:38] BE4Life182: o ok nvm
[3:22:51] whymillywhy: Just to warn you, I gotta go soon.
[3:22:53] Kevmaster: what is the position of the ram when its just idle...sitting there
[3:22:57] Kevmaster: ok
[3:23:23] Kevmaster: at A or at B?
[3:23:30] whymillywhy: I can't open the animation
[3:23:36] Kevmaster: its a gif file
[3:23:47] whymillywhy: I can't clik on the link
[3:24:00] Kevmaster: then copy and paste
[3:24:10] whymillywhy: Can't highlight
[3:24:16] Kevmaster: then re-type?
[3:24:27] Kevmaster: case sensative
[3:24:30] BE4Life182: http://www.beog.org/Rainmaker/ani_rain_cut_slow.gif
[3:24:32] whymillywhy: Got it
[3:24:37] Kevmaster: ok
[3:24:55] whymillywhy: A?
[3:25:07] Kevmaster: on the ram
[3:25:11] Kevmaster: the A input and the B input
[3:25:17] Kevmaster: which one is it near when just in idle
[3:25:18] whymillywhy: a?
[3:25:23] Kevmaster: when you're running around
[3:25:28] BE4Life182: b
[3:25:30] whymillywhy: B?
[3:25:32] Kevmaster: its b
[3:25:43] Kevmaster: the RM, when idle, is in the OPEN bolt position
[3:25:58] whymillywhy: It is an openbolt?
[3:26:01] whymillywhy: or closed?
[3:26:05] Kevmaster: its an open bolt marker
[3:26:23] BE4Life182: y is that
[3:26:23] whymillywhy: Okay
[3:26:24] Kevmaster: scott will tell you its a closed bolt or "quazi-closed" bolt...but it is just as open bolt as a spyder
[3:26:30] Kevmaster: why is it open bolt?
[3:26:42] BE4Life182: yea arent all gunsd like that closed
[3:27:04] Kevmaster: because the definition of "open bolt" or "closed bolt" is the position of the bolt when idle. if you cna see the breach, its open. if you can't, its closed
[3:27:27] Kevmaster: the autococker...which is a semi-converted from pump is closed bolt
[3:27:31] BE4Life182: so like a blade is closed because the breech is closed
[3:27:33] whymillywhy: Automags are closed rite?
[3:28:14] Kevmaster: because the base of a blade and a sniper is different
[3:28:16] BE4Life182: well its the best open ive seen
[3:28:28] BE4Life182: it acts like a closed
[3:28:31] BE4Life182: but tis not
[3:28:48] whymillywhy: I got blade internals at home
[3:29:13] Kevmaster: heh
[3:29:23] BE4Life182: what
[3:29:58] BE4Life182: ?
[3:30:05] whymillywhy: I gotta go
[3:30:06] whymillywhy: ttyl
[3:30:15] BE4Life182: bye
[3:30:28] Kevmaster: later
[3:30:34] ***: whymillywhy has quit IRC (Quit: whymillywhy)
[3:31:02] BE4Life182: so
[3:31:41] BE4Life182: ???
[3:31:49] Kevmaster: ok
[3:31:50] Kevmaster: sorry
[3:32:03] Kevmaster: so you understand how that works?
[3:32:18] BE4Life182: roger
[3:32:22] Kevmaster: cool
[3:32:29] Kevmaster: want to try and take her apart?
[3:32:41] BE4Life182: what my imaginary one
[3:32:45] Kevmaster: :)
[3:32:45] Kevmaster: sure
[3:32:57] BE4Life182: thers one on ebay right now
[3:33:03] BE4Life182: the bids at 71 $
[3:33:13] BE4Life182: its a bummer too cause if i had the $ i would buy it
[3:33:28] Kevmaster: damn
[3:33:29] BE4Life182: how many do u have
[3:33:33] Kevmaster: one thats together
[3:33:34] BE4Life182: what?
[3:33:37] Kevmaster: two that are apart
[3:33:42] Kevmaster: i need to put them together
[3:33:42] BE4Life182: o
[3:33:50] BE4Life182: yea
[3:33:56] BE4Life182: whats ure main gun
[3:34:13] Kevmaster: the rainmaker
[3:34:17] Kevmaster: either tat or my x-mag
[3:34:25] BE4Life182: o really
[3:34:32] BE4Life182: cool
[3:34:59] Kevmaster: ok
[3:34:59] BE4Life182: i gueese we really dont need to go on
[3:35:03] Kevmaster: lol
[3:35:08] BE4Life182: dont want to waste ure time
[3:35:15] Kevmaster: fair enough
[3:35:19] Kevmaster: so what do you want to cover?
[3:35:25] BE4Life182: but i do have some questions
[3:35:40] Kevmaster: sure
[3:35:42] BE4Life182: how about some problems
[3:35:47] BE4Life182: with the RM
[3:35:57] BE4Life182: what are some maajor ones
[3:36:01] Kevmaster: ok
[3:36:04] Kevmaster: main problem
[3:36:07] Kevmaster: leaking out the MAC valve
[3:36:10] Kevmaster: very common
[3:36:16] BE4Life182: mac valve
[3:36:20] BE4Life182: whats that agian
[3:36:29] BE4Life182: the valve for the ram
[3:36:31] BE4Life182: ??
[3:36:36] Kevmaster: yeh
[3:36:40] Kevmaster: its the electronic valve
[3:37:01] Kevmaster: it contorls the psotion of the ram
[3:37:14] Kevmaster: the leaking is USUALLY caused by a dirty low pressure regulator
[3:37:16] BE4Life182: ok, and its filled with gas
[3:37:25] BE4Life182: whats the lpr
[3:37:29] BE4Life182: well whre is it
[3:37:42] Kevmaster: there is a seal inside the LPR that can easily get dirty and fubar everything
[3:37:51] Kevmaster: its loaced on the back of the marker, right below the main regulator
[3:37:56] Kevmaster: lemme find a good pic
[3:38:08] BE4Life182: o were the hose goes
[3:38:56] BE4Life182: ?
[3:39:29] Kevmaster: http://www.madmartys.com/cyberrain/Cyber-RainL.jpg
[3:39:37] Kevmaster: the silver part is where one WOULD be
[3:39:42] Kevmaster: there is none on this marker
[3:39:47] Kevmaster: http://www.cs.usm.maine.edu/~brassard/paintball/rmv1a.jpg
[3:39:51] Kevmaster: here is a marker with one
[3:40:32] BE4Life182: whoa
[3:40:38] BE4Life182: is that one from maine
[3:40:47] Kevmaster: i suppose
[3:40:55] Kevmaster: HP Lovecraft owns it
[3:40:57] BE4Life182: thats were im from
[3:41:01] BE4Life182: do u know whos it is
[3:41:25] BE4Life182: didnt think ppl up here had ever heard of an rm
[3:41:32] Kevmaster: lol
[3:41:40] BE4Life182: is that tehre username
[3:41:43] Kevmaster: yep
[3:41:52] BE4Life182: exactly hoe its spelt
[3:41:56] BE4Life182: brb
[3:42:08] BE4Life182: doesnt come around any more does he/she
[3:42:12] BE4Life182: nvm ill stay
[3:42:16] Kevmaster: a little
[3:42:23] Kevmaster: so thats one big problem with the Rainny
[3:42:26] Kevmaster: leaky macs
[3:42:27] BE4Life182: ok
[3:42:36] BE4Life182: what about timing
[3:42:44] Kevmaster: timing can be an issue
[3:42:55] Kevmaster: when people tell you "their timing is off"
[3:43:16] BE4Life182: yeas
[3:43:16] Kevmaster: they mean that the space between he carrier and the ram is not correct
[3:43:30] BE4Life182: i dont get it
[3:43:32] Kevmaster: http://rainmaker.flipty.com/spacing.html
[3:43:57] Kevmaster: theres a picture of the proper spacing. the carrier is threaded and is screwed onto the ram end. it needs to be spaced properly to work right
[3:44:10] BE4Life182: ok
[3:44:14] Kevmaster: if the spacing is too small, you'll have chopping problems and the marker wont latch the carrier and the hammer
[3:44:17] BE4Life182: same with a autococker
[3:44:25] BE4Life182: ?
[3:44:27] Kevmaster: if its too far, you'll have a LOT of blow back
[3:44:50] Kevmaster: the cocker's timing problems are much tougher to solve. this can be done with a simple ruler...the cocker takes feel and experience to get right
[3:45:03] BE4Life182: ok any other RM problems
[3:45:34] Kevmaster: if it is skipping shots or misfiring
[3:45:39] Kevmaster: theres one usual cause
[3:45:48] Kevmaster: two actually
[3:45:55] Kevmaster: first is a NEW BATTERY
[3:46:09] Kevmaster: if you have any problems, the first thing you should do is buy a NEW 9v battery, and try it
[3:46:15] Kevmaster: that will solve 75% of your troubles
[3:46:36] Kevmaster: if that doesnt do it, then your hammer spring is likely too weak or the hammer latch has worn too much
[3:46:50] BE4Life182: ok
[3:46:59] BE4Life182: well i gueese thats enough for now
[3:47:12] BE4Life182: i just have a couple more paintball Q's
[3:47:16] BE4Life182: ok???
[3:47:34] Kevmaster: sure
[3:47:37] Kevmaster: ask away
[3:48:02] BE4Life182: one is what are the major differences between the 98 and 99 RM
[3:48:40] Kevmaster: the 98 rm had a semi-auto only board that was capable of 14bps and took 6v of power (via 4 AA batteries)
[3:49:05] Kevmaster: the 99rm had either a select fire board or semi board that was capable of 9bps and took a 9v battery
[3:49:27] Kevmaster: the shroud changed with the models from plastic to metal and the barrel changed to an eagle works barrel in the 99 version
[3:49:42] Kevmaster: thats about all
[3:49:47] Kevmaster: the board is the biggest change though
[3:50:29] BE4Life182: is the 98 still a push button
[3:51:03] BE4Life182: ?
[3:51:19] Kevmaster: ah, yes, the '98 has a switch attached tothe wiring harness while hte '99s switch is built into the board
[3:51:24] Kevmaster: both are pushbutton switches
[3:52:14] BE4Life182: ok
